Halstead nets hat-trick, Bulls comeback to get past Mustangs
Calgary, AB – Mark Halstead scored a hat-trick and added an assist to fuel the Bulls erased a three-goal deficit and to a 7-4 triumph over the Mustangs at Rocky Ridge YMCA (Enerplus Arena) on Saturday.
Capping off the scoring for the Bulls was Roger Baird with two goals, Ryan Oilver and Faiz Khaku chipping in with a goal each. Oilver and Curtis Lodhar each added two assists. Goaltender Michael Lam picked up the win for the Bulls giving up four goals.
Finding the twine for the Mustangs was Ryan Mendonca, Justin Dell, Brent Bouchard and Neal Dixon each tallying single markers. Goaltender Dean Riggall surrendered six goals in the loss for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 4-1 lead when Bouchard scored his fifth of the season with 3:21 left in the second period but Baird responded for the Bulls with his third of the season to start the rally.
Halstead deposited his 14th of the season into an empty net with 0:10 left in the third period to seal the win for the Bulls.
With the win, the Bulls improve to 16-6-0-1 while the Mustangs fall to 11-9-2-1.
